PROJECT BRIEF
THE COSPLAYER ANNUAL
The Cosplayer Mini Zine is a 20 page digital + printed zine intended to document and showcase your cosplay.
The zine will consist of the following:
• 1 page for you to write about your cosplay (ig. the process of creating the cosplay, favorite part about the cosplay, what drew you to the character, etc).
• 2 pages for character quotes with paired photos.
• 1 page for the your bio.
• 1 spread for either a concept or horizontal shot.
• The remaining pages will have a variety of full, mid, head, and cosplay detail shots.
(see examples in the most recent posts at @thecosplayerannual)

SHOOT & MEET LOCATION:
Outside the front of the convention center (to the right of the entrance when facing it) down at the alcove below where they have the large Fanime gatherings.
PRE-SHOOT:
• Have poses prepared. There will need to be at least 3 different full length, 3 mid length, and 3 headshot poses. When thinking of poses, keep in mind nearly all the shots will be vertical.
• Upon signing up for your shoot time, DM @thecosplayerannual your two character quotes so that the shots can be specifically tailored to go with the quotes.
THE SHOOT:
Shoot length will be 30-45mm or so (although I’ve allowed for 1 hour for a little breathing room). It’ll go as follows:
• a quick warm up set
• 2 sets of full length, mid length, and headshots.
• Detail shots (either details of the cosplay or make-up).
• 2 shots that will go with your chosen character quotes.
• 1 shot for the middle spread (either a horizontal or a paired concept shot).
• 1 last set of full length, mid length, and headshots (time permitting).
I’m fully vaccinated and boosted but for your safety and comfort I can still wear a mask.
POST SHOOT:
One set (full length, mid, and head) will be processed within two weeks. Once the written portion on your cosplay and your bio is received I’ll proceed with processing the remaining sets.
Once all the photos are processed production on the zine will begin. Each zine takes about a month or so and they will be done in the order that the written content is received. You’ll be notified when production starts and finishes.
The processed photos and digital zine will be made available for download from a google drive link. The photos are yours to use and share for any non-commercial purposes.
Depending upon how many shoots I do I may compile all of them together and create a mini annual.
Once completed, the zine spreads will be posted on @thecosplayerannual and select photos from the shoot will be posted on my main account @b.nishimoto. You’ll also have your own dedicated page on my site with your photos and links to the digital and print zine (see example: https://www.apertureandpaint.com/cosplay-zine-anasui).
Upon request, a print version will be made available to purchase for $11.99* at blurb.com.
*In order for the zine to be made publicly available to purchase on the site, blurb requires at least one copy to be made. So to recover the cost of having the test copy made, an additional $6.00 was added to the $5.99 base price. Any additional purchases beyond the first copy will help fund future cosplay projects. The digital version is free whether or not you choose to have a printed one made.
